Fence Permit Application Checklist

Submittal Requirements:
  • Building Permit Application
  • Fence New
  • Fence Replacement/Repair
    • Plat of Survey indicating the size and locations of the fence marked with a highlighter pen
    • Replacement or repair of up to two (2) fence panel sections and/or three (3) support posts.
  • Subdivisions with Unique Fencing Restrictions
    • Fences must also meet your subdivision's rules.
    • Before you apply for a fence permit, check with your Homeowner's Association (HOA) or subdivision covenant.
    • Many subdivisions in the Village have their own recorded restrictions on fencing — including height, material, style, and placement — that are separate from, and often stricter than, the Village's fence code. A Village permit does not override or waive your subdivision's HOA restrictions. It is your responsibility, not the Village's, to confirm your fence complies with any applicable covenants before installation.
If your property is in a subdivision with an HOA, we strongly encourage you to get written approval from your HOA before submitting your permit application. Installing a fence that violates your subdivision's covenants can result in enforcement action by your HOA, including forced removal of the fence at your expense — even after the Village has issued a permit.
If you are unsure whether your subdivision has an HOA or recorded restrictions, contact your subdivision's management company or check your property's title/closing documents.
Permit Fees (Fee is not due until permit is ready):
  • $45.00
