Welcome to the website for the Village of Algonquin!

Holiday Lights Recycling Program

The Village of Algonquin will be accepting holiday lights from residents for recycling at the Ganek Municipal Center (2200 Harnish Drive) through January 17, 2024.

The Holiday Lights Recycling Program, offered through Elgin Recycling, is a partnership with communities in the area to reduce the amount of recyclable material from holiday lights that is deposited into landfills during the holiday season. To date, the Holiday Lights Recycling Program has diverted over 100,000 lbs. of holiday lights from landfills across the 28 participating jurisdictions.

It is asked that you remove lights from boxes and remove all plastic, garland, tinsel, etc. prior to placing items in the recycle container.
