Algonquin Opens 2026 Community Event Sponsorship Program Algonquin is inviting local businesses, nonprofits, and organizations to participate in the Village’s Community Sponsorship Program, which supports events and programs throughout the year. The annual application period opens December 1, with priority consideration for Algonquin-based businesses through January 31. Sponsors may receive recognition through event materials, digital platforms, onsite visibility, and more. Click below to learn more.
Join Us for Miracle on Main December 6 Kick off the holiday season in Old Town Algonquin on Saturday, December 6! Activities will begin between 4:00 and 4:30 p.m. and continue into the evening. Arrive early to enjoy the Merry Market, which opens at 3:00 p.m. Bring friends and family to celebrate this festive tradition together!
Telehealth Available for Algonquin Residents Cold and flu season is here, and Algonquin’s new telehealth program offers quick medical guidance right from home. Residential utility account holders (unless opted out) can text 839-887-0365 between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. to connect with a licensed physician—no copays, deductibles, or insurance required, and households may use the service as often as needed. A $6 monthly fee now appears on residential utility bills; learn more below.
Service Update: Yard Waste Collection Due to the Winter Storm Warning 11/29, Groot paused yard waste pickup to prioritize essential garbage service, and any missed yard waste will be collected on your regular day this week (Thursday or Friday), with yard waste service continuing through the second week of December.
Electric Bikes, Scooters & Safety Reminders Before buying or gifting an e-scooter or e-bike this holiday season, please remember that these devices may not be used on Village streets, sidewalks, parks, parking lots, or other public spaces—use is limited to private property with the owner’s permission. Knowing the rules ahead of time helps keep our neighborhoods safe and prevents citations for repeat violations; learn more below.
Village Offices Closed December 24 & 25 The Ganek Municipal Center and Public Works Facility will be closed on Wednesday, December 24, and Thursday, December 25, in observance of the holiday. Groot refuse, recycling, and yard waste collection will be delayed by one day for the entire week.

Holiday Lights Recycling through January 21 Recycle your holiday lights at Ganek Municipal Center, 2200 Harnish Drive, through January 21. The Village is partnering with Elgin Recycling to accept most types of holiday lights. Please check the link below for a list of accepted and unaccepted items.
Support President Sosine in the Red Kettle Challenge President Debby Sosine will be joining the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Challenge this Saturday, ringing the bell at the Algonquin Walmart on Randall Road from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to help raise funds for local families in need. Her goal is to collect $1,000, and she’s already begun gathering donations toward that effort. Residents are encouraged to stop by, say hello, and contribute if they’re able. Winter Weather Reminders Winter parking regulations are in effect through April 15, prohibiting parking on public streets between 2–5 a.m. and after snowfalls of 2 inches or more until plowing is complete.
