Telehealth Services Now Available in Algonquin
Algonquin has approved Text a Physician (TAP), an optional program that lets households connect with licensed medical professionals by text or phone at 839-887-0365. Enjoy free access now—billing begins in December. Designed for simple illnesses and common conditions, TAP expands access to convenient, on-demand healthcare for residents.

Algonquin Named Among Best Small Cities in America
Algonquin has been named one of the Best Small Cities in America for 2025 by WalletHub, ranking in the 98th percentile nationwide among more than 1,300 U.S. cities. The Village earned top marks for affordability (#7 nationally) and scored above average in safety, quality of life, and economic health. Click below to learn more.

Free Leaf and Brush Collection Underway
Groot will provide free collection of leaves and branches to all Algonquin residents continues through December 12 on your regular collection day. Program details are available by clicking "more."

Electric Scooter and Bike Safety Rules Enforced
The Village has seen an increase in unsafe or disruptive use of electric scooters, bikes, and similar motorized devices. To protect public safety, these devices are not permitted on Village streets, sidewalks, parks, parking lots, or other public property. Use is limited to private property with the owner’s permission. Citations and impoundments may occur for repeat violations. Parents are encouraged to review these rules with their children to help keep Algonquin’s neighborhoods safe for everyone.

Miracle on Main | December 6
Join us for Miracle on Main on Saturday, December 6, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Plaza on Main Street! Celebrate the season with live music and festive performances starting at 4:00 PM. Don’t miss the arrival of Santa Claus and the tree lighting ceremony! Be sure to check out the Merry Market, featuring many unique vendors for your holiday shopping needs!

Overnight Parking Restrictions through April 15
Overnight parking restrictions are now in effect through April 15. Individuals who wish to park a vehicle overnight on the street will need to complete the 'Overnight Parking Request Form' by clicking "more." Please be aware that there may be restrictions on these requests.

IDOT Performing Pavement Maintenance on IL Route 31
The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is conducting pavement patching and grinding along the Western Algonquin Bypass (IL Route 31) from North Main Street to South Main Street. Work is scheduled to continue through the end of November 2025. Click below to learn more.

Village Offices Closed | November 27 & 28
The Ganek Municipal Center and the Public Works Facility will be closed on Thursday, November 27, and Friday, November 28, in observance of the holiday. Groot refuse, recycling, and yard waste collection will be delayed by one day for the entire week.

Styrofoam Recycling Program Suspended
Beginning November 15, 2025, the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County will suspend their Styrofoam Recycling Program. As a result, the Algonquin Public Works Facility will no longer accept Styrofoam or packing peanuts for recycling. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as the Environmental Defenders work to identify future solutions and promote waste reduction alternatives.

Now Hiring: Full-Time Positions Available
The Village of Algonquin is now hiring for multiple full-time positions, including lateral police officers and Engineer II. These roles offer competitive pay and excellent benefits.
