From the intersection of Algonquin Road and Main Street, take Algonquin Road east, turn right at Sandbloom Road, and then left at Compton Drive. No matter which direction you use to get to the park, it will be on the right.
About This Location
Algonquin Lakes Park is a 35-acre park behind the Algonquin Lakes Elementary School. There are two entrances: one at Lake Gillian Way and Compton, and the other right off Lake Cornish Way. It has two baseball fields, a tri-basketball court, two sets of playgrounds, and restrooms. There is an amazing network of bike paths that come from the connecting neighborhoods and lead to the wetland lakes. In case you get hot, there's a gazebo to provide shade. The surrounding fields have enough room to play soccer or football, and adjacent to the restrooms is a picnic shelter.
This is one of Algonquin's major parks, and one not to be missed.
Restroom facilities at this location are open from approximately May 1 to October 15 (weather dependent) of each year .
The Village of Algonquin received a Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant in 2002 from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) to help develop this park facility.
