About This Location

Towne Park is currently closed for planned improvements. Learn more about the Towne Park Reconstruction project.

Towne Park in Algonquin spans 14 acres, including 9 acres of active park space and 5 acres of natural areas, with Crystal Creek flowing through it. Located just off Main Street, this park is a key gathering space for the community and hosts a variety of special events, including the Algonquin Summer Concerts. Towne Park now features a custom creative play space with rubber surfacing, a new bandshell with storage space, and a combined pavilion and restroom facility. The existing restroom building in the south parking lot has also been renovated, and new entryway signage welcomes visitors. The park’s pavilion is available for rental through an online application.

In 2024, the Village of Algonquin received an Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to support the comprehensive redevelopment of Towne Park.

The Prairie Trail, owned and maintained by the McHenry County Conservation District, intersects Towne Park, providing bicyclists with a convenient connection from other parts of the county to Algonquin.

This park is a recognized historic site by the Village of Algonquin.

Please note that the park operates from dawn to dusk, and restroom facilities are generally open from May 1 to October 15, weather permitting.
