Does the Village provide mulch to residents?
Yes, the Village provides free mulch to Algonquin residents. The mulch by-product of our day to day General Services activity.
What are construction hours in the Village?
Construction activities shall only be permitted between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and between 8:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Sunday.
When are winter parking regulations in effect?
Winter parking regulations are in effect between October 31 and April 15 of each year.

Nicor Gas provides natural gas delivery service to customers in Algonquin.

What do I do if my mailbox was damaged by a snow plow?
If a snowplow blade hits a mailbox while removing snow from the Village streets, then the Village will replace the mailbox. If a snowplow blade strikes a mailbox or mailbox post, then the Village is responsible for replacement. If the mailbox or mailbox post is knocked down by the force of the snow striking it, it is not the Village's responsibility to replace it. The mailbox or mailbox post must clearly show evidence of the blade striking either for the Village to be at fault.

Full-depth reclamation (FDR) is a reconstruction method that recycles the existing pavement and base materials to create a strong new foundation for the road. Its used for roadways with significant structural issues. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a new layer of asphalt over existing pavement to improve surface conditions and extend pavement lifetypically used when the road is still structurally sound.
How are projects selected for construction or repair?
The Village evaluates and prioritizes projects based on safety, infrastructure condition, and cost-efficiency. These priorities are reflected in the Villages Five-Year Capital Improvement Plan, which outlines more than $120 million in planned investments through Fiscal Year 2030 across streets, water and sewer systems, parks, and natural areas.
Whats the difference between warranted and unwarranted stop signs?
Warranted stop signs meet criteria such as traffic volume, crash history, and visibility, as outlined in national traffic control guidelines. Unwarranted stop signsthose installed without meeting these criteriacan create unsafe driving conditions by encouraging noncompliance or speeding. The Village follows engineering standards to ensure proper placement.

What maintenance programs does the Village have in place?
The Village operates several ongoing maintenance programs to preserve infrastructure and public spaces.
