Village Offices Closed December 24 & 25; January 1
The Ganek Municipal Center and Public Works Facility in Algonquin will be closed on Thursday, December 24, and Friday, December 25. Additionally, the Ganek Municipal Center and Public Works Facility in Algonquin will also be closed on Friday, January 1. Click below for Groot refuse and recycling collection information.

Maggie Auger Appointed Algonquin Village Clerk
Maggie Auger was appointed Village Clerk at the November 18 Algonquin Village Board meeting. Auger, a retired attorney, most recently served as a Kane County Board member, representing District 23 for two terms. Prior to that, Auger served the Village of Algonquin for 18 years with roles on the Economic Development Commission and the Planning and Zoning Commission.

Impacted Business Relief Program
The Village of Algonquin has applied for $350,000 in funding from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity's Local CURE's Economic Support Program. At this time, the Village is considering applications from eligible businesses located in McHenry County.

Kane County Coronavirus Relief Fund
An additional round of funding has been announced for businesses located in Kane County through the County's Coronavirus Relief Fund. While there currently is no deadline, businesses are encouraged to apply as soon as possible while funding is available. The application portal can be found at the link below.

COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Information
The Village of Algonquin is working with local, state and federal health partners to take all preventative steps available to limit the spread of COVID-19. At this time, the State, including health Region 9, has been placed under Tier 3 resurgence mitigations. To help keep the Algonquin community safe, please do your part to prevent the spread of illness.

Support Algonquin Restaurants and Businesses
During this time, the Village asks that residents please support Algonquin’s small restaurants and businesses, many of which have pickup, delivery and/or other service accommodations. A number of businesses and restaurants in the area are also providing holiday offerings, including the Old Town Algonquin Elf on the Shelf promotion.

Algonquin's Best: Outdoor Holiday Decorating Contest
We would love to spread some holiday cheer throughout the community and are looking for some of the best decorated homes in Algonquin!! Please send photos to recreation@algonquin.org by December 11th at 9pm. Voting will take place the week of December 14th.

9th Annual Student Art Exhibit Held Virtually
The Village of Algonquin is pleased to announce the 9th Annual Student Art Exhibit is live in a virtual format accessible to all. The exhibit is typically held in the spring at the Algonquin Public Library, however, due to COVID-19, the event was postponed this year and instead a virtual platform was created as a safe alternative.

Home for the Holidays Recreation Programs
As we approach the holiday season during these unprecedented times, our Recreation team has put together a holiday program to keep spirits high. These include some unique programs in cooperation with our local business community to provide them support, as well as events to safely meet with Santa and Mrs. Claus. 2021 Calendar & Annual Report
The 2021 Calendar and Annual Report for the Village of Algonquin is now available. Residents can expect to receive their calendar this month.

Holiday Lights Recycling
The Village will offer holiday light recycling through January 18 at Ganek Municipal Center, 2200 Harnish Drive. Most holiday lights will be accepted; please refrain from dropping off household lights. Click 'more' to view the list of accepted and unaccepted items.

Winter Parking Regulations
Winter parking regulations are in effect between October 31 and April 15 each year. Overnight street parking requests may be submitted online. Click the link below for additional details.

Stoneybrook Park Development Project
The Village of Algonquin is transforming Stoneybrook Park as it continues to implement the Village's Parks, Trails and Open Space Plan. This plan is part of the Village's commitment to improve recreational opportunities and conserve natural spaces for the community.

Downtown Streetscape - Stage 3 Information
Construction of water and sanitary sewer improvements is continuing on Harrison and Washington streets and La Fox Drive. The improvements being completed aim to increase water system capacity and eliminate sewer backups in the area. Additional information can be found at the link below.

Free Leaf and Brush Collection Underway
Free leaf collection began October 1 for Algonquin residents and will continue through December 14. Program details are available by clicking 'more'.

Sidewalk Snow Removal
As the snow begins to fall, the Village of Algonquin would like to remind residents of their responsibility to remove snow and ice accumulating on the abutting sidewalks within 24 hours after any snowfall has ceased.

Christmas Tree Collection
Groot will collect Christmas trees at no charge on your normal collection day throughout the month of January. Click below for additional information.
