The Village of Algonquin, IL

Welcome to the website for the Village of Algonquin!

Village Construction Projects - Illinois Department of Transportation - Illinois Route 62 Bridge Overlay Information

The four lanes of traffic on Algonquin Road over the Fox River will be reduced to one lane in each direction due to construction on the bridge.

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will be replacing the concrete surface and repairing the steel structure to the bridge that carries traffic over the Fox River. The project work will be performed in two stages, with the work zone for Stage 1 being the south half of the bridge (both eastbound lanes). During this stage, the two existing westbound lanes will be reconfigured to become a single lane in each direction.

This same process will be repeated in Stage 2, with the two westbound lanes becoming the active work zone and two-way traffic using the completed eastbound lanes. Motorists should drive with caution between Harrison Street and North River Road. Please note the traffic work zones will start approximately 1,000 feet east and west from the bridge to accommodate the changes in traffic patterns.

Work is expected to be completed in fall. Please allow for extra time when traveling through the work zone or utilize alternative routes. The Village is coordinating local construction projects with IDOT’s schedule to reduce impacts to residents.
