The Village of Algonquin, IL

Welcome to the website for the Village of Algonquin!

Reopening of Playgrounds and Outdoor Fitness Equipment

The Village is regularly reviewing guidelines issued from federal, state, and local authorities to gradually reopen facilities and restore park and recreation activities while assuring everyone’s safety. Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois plan allows for gatherings of 50 people or less, with proper physical distancing of 6 feet and the continued use of face coverings when physical distancing isn’t possible.

Here’s what you can look forward to opening starting July 1:

Playgrounds and outdoor fitness equipment will be available for use*. Please note that this equipment will not be sanitized. Face coverings are still required if physical distancing isn’t possible. Since these are high-touch surfaces we encourage you to use hand sanitizer or wash your hands before and after using the equipment.

*Crews will be removing signs and caution tape from facilities on July 1 and 2.

Additionally, athletic fields, basketball courts, disc golf course, open spaces, restrooms, tennis courts, trails/bike paths, and volleyball courts are available for use.

Park pavilion rentals at are available at the following parks, so long as gatherings are limited to 50 persons or less: Cornish Park; Hill Climb Park; Riverfront Park; Towne Park; and Willoughby Farms Park.  Historic Village Hall is currently not available for rental.

Please follow CDC guidelines, social distancing, and health practices when visiting including:

  • Stay home if you have a fever (above 100.4F), coughing or shortness of breath, or are otherwise unwell.
  • Wash or sanitize hands frequently.
  • Don’t share food, water bottles, utensils or cups.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Cover your mouth & nose with your elbow or a tissue when coughing or sneezing, then throw the tissue in the trash and wash your hands.

Please help us responsibly emerge from this situation and do your best to follow these guidelines.  We are happy to welcome you back to our community parks!
