COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Information
The Village of Algonquin is working with local, state and federal health partners to take all preventative steps available to limit the spread of COVID-19. Governor Pritzker announced that the State would begin Phase 3 of the Reopen Illinois Plan following the Stay-at-Home Order. Click "more" to view additional information.

Spring Cleanup Rescheduled to August
Due to the pandemic, the spring cleanup event was postponed from its original dates. The new dates for the event are August 8 (east) and August 15 (west).

Support Algonquin Restaurants and Businesses
During this time, the Village asks that residents please support Algonquin’s small restaurants and businesses, many of which have pickup, delivery and/or other service accommodations. The link below includes information about stores and restaurants offering accommodations as well as resources for business owners.

Document Shredding Event Postponed
The document shredding event scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 13 has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A rescheduled date for the event will be announced at a later time.

Algonquin Named Tree City USA
The Arbor Day Foundation announced that the Village of Algonquin is again named a Tree City USA community for its commitment to effective forest management. This is the 24th year in which Algonquin has received this designation.

Starting a Summer Project? You Might Need a Permit!
Residents can use the link below to find information regarding projects they may be starting as the weather allows. Remember that you can also submit permits or request inspections online as well!

Village Construction Projects

Sprinkler System Backflow Testing Information
The State of Illinois requires that sprinkler systems be tested annually, even if they are not planned to be used in the coming year. As a result, those who receive notice will need to have the system tested unless it has been permanently capped by a plumber.

Having a Garage Sale?
As the weather warms up garage sale season is gearing up. The Village does not require a permit to have a garage sale, however, we do ask that residents be mindful of social distancing guidelines and best practices to prevent the spread of COVID-19 as activities continue through the reopening plan.

Algonquin Receives Award for Comprefensive Annual Financial Report
The Village of Algonquin received an award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

Algonquin Receives Award for Popular Annual Financial Report
The Village of Algonquin received an award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its Popular Annual Financial Report, which is a condensed version of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report that focuses on readability and transparency.

Algonquin FY 20/21 Budget
The fiscal year 2020 - 2021 operating and capital budget is now available online. The annual budget represents the single most important policy adopted each year in any municipal organization. Click "more" to learn more about this important document.

Pick Up After Your Pet
Waste from your pet contains fecal coliform bacteria such as Salmonella and E. coli. Water that contacts waste before entering the ground carries these pathogens into our groundwater. Additionally, these harmful bacteria can come into contact with people and pets from surfaces where waste or water carrying these bacteria have touched.

Water Conservation Regulations
The Village of Algonquin continues to take a proactive role in the conservation of water. The overall goal of the water conservation program is to educate residents and businesses about the ease of conserving water and the importance of conservation. The Village regulations are explained in this pamphlet as well as conservation tips you can practice at home.
