Welcome to the website for the Village of Algonquin!

Holiday Lights Recycling Program

From November 23, 2020, through January 18, 2021, the Village of Algonquin will be accepting holiday lights from residents for recycling at the Ganek Municipal Center (2200 Harnish Drive).

The Holiday Lights Recycling Program, offered through Elgin Recycling, is a partnership with communities in the area to reduce the amount of recyclable material from holiday lights that is deposited into landfills during the holiday season. Last year, the Holiday Lights Recycling Program diverted over 50,000 lbs of holiday lights from landfills across the 27 participating communities.

It is asked that you remove lights from boxes and remove all plastic, garland, tinsel, etc. prior to placing items in the recycle container.
