Algonquin Receives Funding for Old Town Utilities Project

The Village of Algonquin has received $2.57 million of funding for water and sanitary sewer improvements on North Harrison Street through the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (SRF). The SRF program is administered by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and receives a portion of its money to fund these types of projects from the United States EPA.  Construction will include replacement of 326 linear feet of water main along with replacement of 2,800 linear feet of sanitary sewer.  The replacement sanitary sewer will also be enlarged from 16 and 18-inch diameter to 24 and 30-inch diameter to provide improved capacity in the wastewater system.

Once complete, the new infrastructure will reduce infiltration and inflow as well as surcharging during peak wet weather conditions within the area. SRF programs operate in each state to provide communities the resources necessary to build, maintain, and improve the infrastructure that protects one of our most valuable resources: water.

Construction is expected to begin in late summer/early fall of 2019.  Check back online at for construction details in the near future.
