About the Public Arts Commission

The Public Arts Commission serves as an advisory Commission to the Village Board and is charged with the purpose and goal of fostering the placement of public art throughout the community consistent with the Algonquin Public Art Master Plan.

The Public Arts Commission is an ad hoc organization, which consists of seven (7) members, appointed by the President, with the advice and consent of the Village Board.  The primary consideration that qualifies a person to be a volunteer is to have a demonstrated interest in visual art.  The Commission meets on an as-needed basis. When needed, the Village staff will schedule the Commission’s meetings at Ganek Municipal Center, 2200 Harnish Drive, Algonquin.

Residents are encouraged to submit an application to serve on one of the Village’s many Boards and Commissions. Applications can be submitted to the Village Clerk’s Office below.  Appointments are made by the entire Village Board annually or when vacancies occur.
