Consolidated Election Packets Available

Election Packets for the 2023 Village of Algonquin Consolidated Election will be available beginning Tuesday, September 20, 2022.  Courtesy packets can be obtained electronically by registering at this link.

Three (3) Village Trustee seats are up for election; each a four-year term.

The first day to file nominating petitions at the Village of Algonquin is on Monday, December 12, 2022 at 8:00 a.m. and the last day to file is Monday, December 19, 2022 prior to 5:00 p.m. The Village of Algonquin will accept petitions as follows:

  • December 12, 2022: Walk-ins 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • December 13, 2022: By appointment only 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • December 14, 2022: By appointment only 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • December 15, 2022: By appointment only 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • December 16, 2022: By appointment only 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • December 19, 2020: Walk-ins 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

No petitions will be accepted after 5:00 pm on Monday, December 19, 2022

On the first day to file, Monday, December 12, 2022, Village Offices will be open at 8:00 a.m. Those arriving by 8:00 a.m., will be considered a “simultaneous filer” and will be placed into a lottery to determine ballot placement. On the last day to file, Monday, December 19, 2022, Village Offices will be open at 8:00 a.m., filing between the hours of 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. will be considered a “simultaneous filer” and will be placed into a lottery to determine ballot placement. Simultaneous Filing Lottery, if needed, will take place on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at 9:00 a.m., which is within the time schedule prescribed by State law. The lottery will, of course, will be open to the public with notice posted 7 days prior to the lottery.


The Village Clerk and staff cannot provide a review of nominating papers or legal opinions regarding petition papers. Candidates are strongly encouraged to consult their own legal counsel.
