The Village of Algonquin, IL

Welcome to the website for the Village of Algonquin!

Algonquin Village Offices Closed to Public Starting March 16

In response to guidance from the Illinois Department of Public Health regarding the most effective strategies to prevent the spread of illness, the Village of Algonquin has taken a proactive step of closing all municipal buildings to the public, effective March 16.  The Police Department will remain open during this time; however, we are requesting that all non-emergency, not in progress crimes be called in to the non-emergency number at 847-658-4531 to have the initial report taken via phone.

The closure of municipal facilities will initially take place starting March 16, and subsequently be reassessed.  The current closure is in place through March 27.

Essential municipal administrative services will continue to be offered in a limited capacity by phone (847-658-2700), online chat, and email. The Village has staff assigned to keep communication channels open during the closure.  There will be no reduction in services for public safety and the Village encourages residents to conduct business online, via mail or by phone, where possible.

Plans are in place for water, sewer and public safety services to continue without incident. Non-emergency staff will be available during regular business hours to assist residents by phone, email or by appointment as appropriate. Groot collection will continue on schedule. Services such as utility bill payment can all be completed through the Village’s website, via the Village’s drop-box or by mail – Village of Algonquin, 2200 Harnish Drive, Algonquin, IL 60102. The Village strongly encourages residents and businesses to use online services as much as possible.

The Village’s online service request portal has several categories of service requests available. If you need assistance with services such as processing a payment online or via mail, please contact us with any inquiries.

As this is an ongoing situation, the Village will continue to share updates to its website at and on social media. Residents are encouraged to sign-up for Village e-news via the Village website as well.

The Ganek Municipal Center and Historic Village Hall will be open on Tuesday, March 17, for the Illinois General Primary Election, though there will be no in-person Village services.  Additionally, the Village Board meeting and public hearing scheduled for Tuesday, March 17 will proceed as normally scheduled.

These decisions were made based upon guidance from the CDC, which recommends limiting in-person interactions to prevent exposure and spread of COVID-19. As always, the Village’s top priority is to promote the health and safety of our customers, employees and community.

The Village will continue to provide updates as information becomes available at
