STARTING RATE: $14.50 per hour
HOURS PER WEEK: Monday - Friday from 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. for the summer season (May - August).
The Village of Algonquin is seeking applicants for the position of Seasonal Maintenance Worker for the Public Works Department.
GENERAL DUTIES:
If assigned to:
Internal Services - duties may include: painting, cleaning, assisting with maintenance of all buildings, working with building personnel on projects at facilities including pool, and other general maintenance work. The tools involved in these activities include both hand tools and small motorized tools such as drills, saws, and carpet cleaning machines.
Parks & Forestry - duties may include: weeding and watering plants and planter beds, trash collection, restroom maintenance, ballfield maintenance, park site maintenance and repair, downtown cleaning and maintenance, tree debris collection and stacking, and other tasks as assigned. The tools involved in these activities include both hand and landscape tools and small motorized tools such as blowers and string trimmers.
Streets - duties may include: asphalt repairs, pothole patching, street maintenance, sign maintenance, roadside maintenance, and sign and sidewalk inventories. The tools involved in these activities include both hand tools and small motorized tools such as blowers, tampers, and string trimmers.
Utilities - duties may include: lawn mowing, typical grounds maintenance, painting, mopping floors, hosing tanks, and cleaning buildings.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must be at least 16 years old, preferably 18 years old if asked to utilize power equipment and tools. Valid driver’s license for those over 18 years of age.
