Algonquin Seeks Community Input on High Hill Park Master Plan

The Village of Algonquin invites residents to drop in, review concept plans for High Hill Park & Nature Preserve, and share their ideas directly with Village staff. The open house is Wednesday, June 17, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Pavilion at High Hill Park, Harnish Drive between Roaring Brook Lane and Providence Drive. Rain location: Ganek Municipal Center, 2200 Harnish Drive.

Input gathered that evening will help inform the park’s long-term master plan, covering design, facility improvements, programming, and environmental conservation. The Village is pursuing up to $600,000 in Illinois Department of Natural Resources grant funding, with construction anticipated in 2027 and 2028.

“This master plan reflects our continued investment in Algonquin’s park system and in the spaces that bring our community together,” said Village President Debby Sosine. “We encourage residents to share their ideas as we plan for the future of High Hill Park.”

High Hill Park spans 29 acres, 8 acres of active park space, and over 21 acres of naturalized areas. The southern section (Harnish Drive) features a playground, shelter, swings, and a sand area; the northern section (Kirkland Drive) offers a sports field and a walking path, connected to a nature preserve with a lake, stream, and hilltop views.

Families are encouraged to attend. Kids are welcome to explore the playground and share their ideas. Popsicles will be served.

The open house is a chance to be part of something lasting. Improvements made through this process will serve Algonquin families for generations. Come see what’s planned and help make it great. For more information, visit here.
