Woods Creek Force Main Replacement

Project Overview
The Woods Creek Force Main Replacement project is intended to improve the reliability and capacity of the Village’s sanitary sewer infrastructure by replacing the existing pressurized ductile iron main with a non-corrosive pressurized pipe. The project supports long-term wastewater system performance and reduces the risk of failures associated with older infrastructure.
Why this Project is Needed
The Village is replacing the existing force main due to repeated pipe failures and the results of a geotechnical investigation that identified corrosive soil conditions along the pipeline route. The force main experienced two breaks within a two-year period, which is considered uncommon for this type of infrastructure.
Force mains are typically designed for long-term service and rarely fail under normal conditions. However, the corrosive soils surrounding the pipe have accelerated deterioration of the existing main, increasing the risk of future failures. Replacing the force main will improve system reliability, reduce maintenance and emergency repair costs, and provide a more durable pipeline better suited for the existing soil conditions.
Scope of Work
- Replacement of the existing ductile iron force main pipe with non-corrosive pipe material
- Installation of new piping and associated appurtenances
- Open cut and/or directional drilling construction methods
- Pavement, landscaping, and restoration work
- Traffic control and temporary access maintenance
Anticipated Timeline
Tree removal and brush clearing early-spring 2027
Installation of the force main, including restoration of existing pavement and landscaping, will be completed in the summer and fall of 2027.
Impact During Construction
Construction equipment and vehicles may be temporarily accessing the project site from Algonquin Road and/or Stonegate Road. Construction equipment activity, noise, and limited short-duration utility interruptions during portions of the project.
