Welcome to the website for the Village of Algonquin!
Algonquin Cleanup Events Coming Soon
The Village of Algonquin, in partnership with Groot, will offer a series of cleanup opportunities for residents in the coming weeks, including a Village-wide bulk item collection program and a free document shredding event.
The Village-wide cleanup program will be available to single-family residences and townhomes currently receiving residential refuse and recycling services. This program is intended to help residents reduce potential fire hazards and enhance neighborhood appearance. Stickers are not required for this special pickup.
Cleanup dates are based on each resident’s regular Groot service day. Households with Thursday collection (East) will have their cleanup on April 25, and households with Friday collection (West) will have their cleanup on May 2.
Typical items accepted include toys, old clothing, couches, beds, dressers, grills, and patio furniture. Items that will not be collected include, but are not limited to, automobile parts, landscape waste, white goods (household appliances), electronics, and construction materials such as broken concrete, large amounts of lumber, and brick. All items must be placed curbside by 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled cleanup date.
In addition, the Village will host a free document shredding event for residents on Saturday, May 16, at the Algonquin Public Works Facility (110 Mitchard Way) from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., or until capacity is reached.
Participants must verify their Village of Algonquin residency. Each vehicle is limited to eight (8) standard-size banker boxes. Accepted materials include standard office paper and file folders. All materials must be free of binders, binder clips, and other items that could damage shredding equipment.
