Police Officer - Entry Level
WRITTEN EXAMINATION
A mandatory written test will be held at Western Illinois University (Macomb Campus) on Tuesday, April 21 at 2:15pm, at Village of Algonquin Ganek Municipal Center, 2200 Harnish Drive, Algonquin, IL on Thursday, April 23 at 6:00pm and Saturday, April 25 at 8:00am. You may only attend one session.
Applicants must present a valid U.S. federal or state-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license or state ID card, to enter the testing site. College, university, library, or other non-governmental ID cards will not be accepted.
Please arrive no earlier than 45 minutes prior to the scheduled testing time. Doors will close and be locked promptly at the designated start time. Applicants who arrive after the scheduled time, or who do not have a current application on file for this recruitment, will not be permitted to enter.
The entire testing process may include a physical fitness test, written test, oral interview, polygraph, psychological test, medical exam, and any other exams deemed necessary by the Police Department.
SALARY/BENEFITS INFORMATION
- Hiring salary is $75,382.34 per the MAP Contract through April 30, 2025 (salary will change upon the completion of negotiations)

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED;
- Valid driver’s license at time of hire;
- U.S. citizenship;
- Valid Illinois Firearms Owner Identification Card (FOID) at time of hire;
- Candidates may submit a valid POWER Test card at the time of application, but must obtain one as part of the background process and as part of the conditional offer completion;
- Meet the age requirements set forth in the Illinois State Statute 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6, (upon appointment of employment be 21 years of age or older and have not reached their 35th birthday, unless they meet the exemptions under the statute);
- No record of felony conviction or crime of moral turpitude
