Life Saving Award Presented to Officer James Brock Moore

Officer James Brock Moore of the Algonquin Police Department was awarded the Life Saving Award for his decisive actions during a medical emergency that saved a man’s life.

On November 13, Officer Moore responded to a call for service on Huntington Drive involving an individual who had collapsed and was unconscious and not breathing. Officer Moore arrived on scene within two minutes of the call being received. He immediately assessed the situation, repositioned the individual to the floor, and began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) without hesitation.

Personnel from the Algonquin–Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District arrived shortly thereafter and continued advanced life-saving measures. The individual was transported to Northwestern Hospital Huntley for further medical treatment and has since recovered.

The Life Saving Award was formally presented during the February 3 Village Board meeting. The individual whose life was saved, along with his family, was in attendance, making the recognition especially meaningful.

While Officer Moore’s actions were critical in preserving life, this incident also reflects the strength of a coordinated emergency response. The Village extends its sincere appreciation to Southeast Emergency Communications Emergency Dispatcher Kyle Kunzen and the responding members of the Algonquin–Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District for their professionalism and teamwork.

Those recognized from the Algonquin–Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District include Firefighter/Paramedic Bobby Kordecki and Firefighter/Paramedic Sean Baumgartner (Ambulance Crew); Captain Mike Gruenes, Firefighter/Paramedic Eric Stevens, and Firefighter/Paramedic Dakota Slone (Truck Crew); Lieutenant Frank Pelanek, Firefighter/Paramedic Tim Monahan, and Firefighter/EMT Justin Mehlhop (Engine Crew); and Battalion Chief Chris Bremner.

Officer Moore’s actions, along with the coordinated response that followed, demonstrate the importance of training, preparedness, and effective communication in emergency situations. The Village appreciates the professionalism of all personnel involved and their shared commitment to protecting life and serving the community.
