Neubert Water Main Replacement
Project Overview
The Village of Algonquin plans to begin the Neubert Water Main Replacement Project in 2026, with anticipated completion by Summer 2026, weather permitting. This project will replace an undersized water main serving Neubert Elementary School and improve system reliability, fire protection, and redundancy in the surrounding area.
Why this Project is Needed
The existing water main serving Neubert Elementary School is undersized and does not meet current reliability and fire flow standards. This project will upgrade and loop the water system to improve water service reliability, enhance emergency response capabilities, and better serve the school and the surrounding neighborhood.
Scope of Work
Major components of the project include:
- Water Main Improvements
- Replacement of the existing undersized water main serving Neubert Elementary School
- Looping of the new water main at Huntington Drive to improve redundancy and reliability
- Fire Protection Enhancements
- Installation of a new fire hydrant to improve fire coverage for the school and nearby properties
- Coordination and Safety Measures
- Coordination with Neubert Elementary School and District 300 to minimize impacts to students and staff
- Implementation of safety fencing and precautions during construction
Anticipated Timeline
- 2026: Construction anticipated to begin
- Summer 2026: Substantial completion expected
This schedule is subject to change based on weather, utility coordination, and school scheduling considerations.
Impact During Construction
Construction will occur in the vicinity of Neubert Elementary School, including a new water main route along Stoneybrook Court, a connection to Huntington Drive, and work near the intersection of Huntington Road and Harnish Drive. Safety fencing and additional precautions will be in place to protect students, staff, and visitors. Temporary traffic and access impacts may occur, but disruptions to school activities will be minimized through coordination with the school district.
