Algonquin Named Among Best Small Cities in America
The Village of Algonquin has been recognized as one of the Best Small Cities in America for 2025, according to a national study by WalletHub. The report compared more than 1,300 U.S. cities with populations between 25,000 and 100,000, measuring 45 indicators of livability across affordability, economic health, education and health, quality of life, and safety. Higher scores indicate stronger overall community performance.
Algonquin achieved a high total score, ranking in the 98th percentile nationwide, placing it among the top small cities in the United States and one of the highest-ranking communities in Illinois. The Village ranked #7 nationally in affordability, reflecting balanced housing costs, a strong homeownership rate, and favorable income-to-cost ratios. Algonquin also performed above average in safety, quality of life, economic health, and education and health, resulting in a well-rounded profile of livability, stability, and access to community amenities.
