The Village of Algonquin is preparing an Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) Safe Routes to School funding application to support transportation improvements near Algonquin Lakes Elementary.
The Algonquin Lakes Pedestrian Crossing Project will enhance safety at the Compton Drive and Lake Gillian Way intersection, making it safer and easier for students to walk and bike to school.

The Algonquin Lakes Pedestrian Crossing Project focuses on safety upgrades at the Compton Drive & Lake Gillian Way intersection near Algonquin Lakes Elementary. Improvements under consideration may include high-visibility crosswalks, signage enhancements, curb ramps, traffic calming, and improved walking and biking connections.
Community feedback is a required part of the IDOT Safe Routes to School application and helps the Village prioritize improvements that meet student and family needs.
