Pesticide Application Notification
Effective January 1, 2025, new state regulations require enhanced notification procedures for pesticide applications on public rights-of-way. In accordance with Public Act 103-0976 (The Pesticide Application on Rights-of-Way Notification Act), the Village of Algonquin will provide written notice to residents at least 24 hours in advance of any such application.
This requirement applies to pesticide and herbicide use on public rights-of-way, including:
- Roadways and road shoulders
- Sidewalks and walking paths
- Utility corridors
- Storm sewers and drainage areas
- Other public infrastructure areas

Application Schedule
Herbicide Application (Village of Algonquin): May 1 through November 1, 2025
- Time of Application: Between 6:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
- Location: Along designated curbline spray routes
- Purpose: Non-selective weed control on public rights-of-way
Mosquito Control Larvicide (Clarke Environmental): May 1 through October 15, 2025
- Larvicide Time of Application: Between dawn and dusk
- Adulticide Time of Application: Between dusk and dawn
- Purpose: Mosquito control and disease outbreak prevention
Day of Service Notifications
Residents can sign up for mosquito treatment notifications through Clarke Environmental’s online portal. Visit www.clarkeportal.com/hotline to register.
Emergency Exceptions
Advance notification requirements may be waived in the event of an emergency, including:
- Threats from disease-causing agents in mosquito populations
- Outbreaks of mosquito-borne illness affecting humans or animals
- Natural disaster recovery requiring immediate treatment
