Algonquin Named Tree City USA for 29th Consecutive Year
The Village of Algonquin has been named a Tree City USA community by the Arbor Day Foundation for its continued commitment to effective urban forest management. This year’s recognition marks the 29th consecutive year Algonquin has received this designation and the third consecutive year it has received the Growth Award.

Broadsmore & Stonegate Phase 2 Improvements
The Broadsmore & Stonegate Phase 2 Project includes road reconstruction, utility work, new bike lanes, and a multi-use path to boost safety and connectivity. Sidewalk, curb, and paving work runs through July. Learn more at the link below.

Randall Road Stage 2 Improvements
The McHenry County Department of Transportation has started Stage 2 of the Randall Road Corridor Improvements project, just north of the Village in Lake in the Hills and Crystal. To learn more, click the link below.

Budget: FY 2025-2026
On April 15, the Village Board of Algonquin unanimously approved the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 annual budget of $85.0 million, which includes $29.2 million for capital improvements. The budget is available for viewing at the Ganek Municipal Center or online at the link provided below.

Village Offices Closed May 26
The Ganek Municipal Center and Public Works Facility in Algonquin will be closed on Monday, May 26, in observance of the holiday. Groot refuse, recycling, and yard waste collection will be delayed during the week.

Document Shredding Event: May 31
Algonquin residents can attend a free document shredding event with Groot on May 31 from 9 AM–12 PM at the Public Works Facility (110 Mitchard Way). Bring up to 8 banker boxes of paper or folders (no binders), and be prepared to show proof of residency.

Touch-A-Truck
Join us at the Public Works Facility (110 Mitchard Way) for the free Touch a Truck event — a fun, hands-on experience for all ages! Enjoy a sensory-friendly hour at 10:00 a.m., followed by full sights and sounds at 11:00 a.m. Grab some delicious food from Da Pizza Company and Kona Ice as you explore and enjoy the event!

Spring Hydrant Flushing Schedule
The Village of Algonquin Utilities Division began flushing hydrants throughout the village on March 31. Hydrants are flushed twice a year to ensure proper operation and improve water quality by circulating water through the system. See below for when hydrants were flushed near you.
