The Village of Algonquin, IL

The Village of Algonquin continues to prioritize its parks and park facilities. Due for replacement are the playground at Tunbridge Park and the tennis and basketball courts at Spella Park. Work at Spella Park is expected to begin in the late spring/early summer of 2025 at Spella Park with a completion in the Summer 2025. The playground replacement at Tunbridge Park is expected to begin in the Summer of 2025 with a completion in the Fall of 2025, weather permitting. 

The Spella Park Court Replacement project will include:

• Complete replacement of the existing tennis court and fence to provide one full-size tennis court and two pickleball courts.

• Added sidewalk and benches along the west side of the tennis/pickleball courts.

• Full-court basketball court to replace the circular partial basketball court complete with new basketball hoops and striping.

The Tunbridge Playground Replacement project will include:

• Replacement of the existing playground and swings with modern playground equipment, built-in shade structure, swings, and enhanced features.

• Replacement of the covered pavilion and sidewalk access to the park.

• Added drinking fountain with bottle filler and doggy bowl

Project Area:

The construction will take place at Spella Park and Tunbridge Park, respectively. Construction equipment will be isolated to the replacement areas. The courts at Spella Park will be closed during construction, but the playground and open space will remain open! Tunbridge Park will be closed during construction.
