National Night Out is the culmination of a year-long community building campaign that is designed to heighten crime prevention awareness, generate support and participation for local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

The Village of Algonquin is conducting a Community Interest and Opinion Survey to establish priorities for the future development of recreation programs, facilities, and services within the community. This will aid the Village in taking a resident-driven approach to making decisions that will enrich the future of Algonquin and positively affect the lives of residents.

The Village of Algonquin sponsored the 2009 Water Conservation Poster Contest as part of the Village's annual Water Conservation efforts. The contest challenged elementary school children to exhibit their best creative skills in designing a poster explaining the importance of conserving water.

Calling all photographers: It's time for the 2009 Village of Algonquin Photo Contest! This year's theme is "Exploring Algonquin" and will focus on photos that depict being an involved community through public art, volunteerism, work, community events, and those serving in community organizations within the Village. Entries are due by September 1, 2009.
