| Village Offices Closed |

Village offices will be closed on Monday, September 6, 2010, in observance of Labor Day. There will be no refuse or recylcing collection on Monday, September 6. Collection will be postponed by one day for the remainder of the week.

| Hydrant Flushing Schedule |
 |
As a regular maintenance practice, the Village of Algonquin Utilities Division flushes all fire hydrants throughout the Village two times per year. This exercise not only ensures proper operation of each hydrant but also helps move fresh water throughout the distribution system, improving overall water quality. | Algonquin Police to hold BASSET Training |
 |
The Algonquin Police Department will host a Basic Alcohol Seller/Server Education Training (BASSET) class on Thursday, September 30, 2010, starting at 10:00 a.m. This class will teach students how to spot fake identification cards, whom to serve and not to serve, and state laws regarding alcohol sales. Persons wishing to attend must pre-register with the Police Department.

| Take-Back Medication Disposal - September 25 |

The Village of Algonquin is proud to partner with the DEA to coordinate a collaborative effort focused on removing potentially dangerous controlled substances from our nation's medicine cabinets. This one-day effort will bring national focus to the issue of pharmaceutical controlled substance abuse and proper disposal methods.

The Village of Algonquin's ECO (Engage, Conserve, Optimize) Committee would like to recognize residents, organizations, and businesses within the Village of Algonquin for their efforts to protect or preserve our natural environment. The Gold Leaf Award is an outreach effort to engage and encourage residents to be active in the Village's environmental efforts.
