| Village Offices Closed |
 |
Village offices will be closed on Friday, April 2, 2010. Village offices will re-open during normal business hours on Monday, April 5. Refuse and recycling collection will take place as scheduled on April 2.

| Spring Cleanup 2010 |
 |
In April, the Village, along with Waste Management, will sponsor a Village-wide spring cleanup for single-family residences and townhomes that currently receive residential refuse and recycling services. STICKERS ARE NOT REQUIRED FOR THIS SPECIAL PICKUP. Please click below for more information.

| Leaf and Brush Collection |
 |
Leaf and brush collection wlll begin April 5, 2010 and will continue through Dec 15, 2010. Waste Management will provide FREE pickup of leaves and branches (tied in bundles which are not more than 4 feet in length and 2 feet in diameter) between April 5 and April 30 and again October 1 through December 15.

| Winter Parking Regulations |
 |
As warmer weather is fast approaching, a reminder to residents, businesses, and visitors that winter parking regulations remain in effect until April 15, 2010. Parking is prohibited on any public street in the Village between the hours of 2:00 am and 5:00 am.

| Severe Weather Information |
 |
Severe weather and tornados can occur at any time in northern Illinois. The Village of Algonquin reminds all residents that preparedness is very important to your safety. Outdoor warning sirens are located throughout the community and are capable of alerting residents by siren. These sirens are only designed to warn people who are OUTSIDE and are not designed to be heard inside. Warnings for people indoors come from radio or TV and not the sirens.

| Enjoy FREE Nature Activities |
 |
Join Nature Expert Barb Wilson on a variety of excursions in Algonquin community parks and on bike paths! Each walk includes new themes, discussions about the area, guided tours, and some include a giveaway or craft activity. Walks begin at 2:00 pm and are held rain or shine.

| 2010 Census Update |
 |
U.S. Census Bureau Director Robert Groves released the initial 2010 Census mail participation rates for the nation showing that 52 percent of households have mailed back their census forms so far. The announcement came after 120 million households received their 2010 Census forms in the mail. As of April 1, the Village of Algonquin's participation rate was 63%.

| Cemetery Spring Cleanup |
 |
The annual "Spring Cleanup" of the Algonquin Cemetery will begin Monday, April 5, and ends Friday, April 9. All decorations that are not removed before April 1, 2010 will be discarded so that the Village may begin appropriate seasonal care for the site.
