New Cell Phone Laws Effective January 1
On January 1, 2010, two new State laws will go into effect regulating the use of cell phones and smart phones while driving.  House Bill 71 prohibits individuals from using cell/smart phones to compose, send, or read an electronic message while operating a motor vehicle on a roadway.  Additionally, House Bill 72 prohibits the use of a cell/smart phone while driving through a school or construction speed zone.

Please be sure to have an understanding of these two new laws as the new year approaches.  Operating a vehicle safely demands that the driver concentrate on driving.  For more information on Illinois State laws on driving, please visit the Illinois Secretary of State website.
