review all development activity to assure new development meets the codes and requirements for the Village. These individuals also work on economic development, assuring the ongoing vitality of commercial and industrial areas and businesses in Algonquin. Additionally, Village Planners work on zoning, historic preservation, park planning, water conservation, transportation issues, trail planning, and administer the Village's annual Public Art Program and biannual Ted Spella Leadership School.
Planning also provides support to various Village commissions including the Economic Development Commission, Historic Commission, Planning and Zoning Commission, and Public Arts Commission.
Planning staff regularly updates Land Use Plans that guide the growth of Algonquin in a strategic and managed manner. These plans include the Comprehensive Plan; Parks, Trails, and Open Space Plan; and Watershed Protection Plans.
