On Tuesday, July 15, 2008, the Algonquin Village Board approved an Emerald Ash Borer Policy and Response Plan. Click on the link below to view this important plan. In early July, the United States Department of Agriculture, along with the Illinois Department of Agriculture, announced the detection of Emerald Ash Borer in the Village of Algonquin, east of the Fox River, near Souwanas Trail and Oceola Drive. Since that time, the Parks & Forestry Division has discovered many infected trees throughout the Village. Emerald Ash Borer is an invasive beetle that destroys ash trees. The Village has been activated a response plan and begun the task of addressing this pest. For more information, please continue to visit this web site, as Village Staff will continue to add details about the Emerald Ash Borer program in the future.
