COMPENSATION: $40,520 - $46,520, D.O.Q., per union contract

HOURS PER WEEK: 40+ hours per week.  You will be required to have a flexible schedule (including nights and weekends) as you will be participating in a schedule as an on-call employee for the Utilities Division.

The Village of Algonquin is seeking applicants for the position of Maintenance Worker I for the Utilities Division of the Public Works Department.

GENERAL DUTIES:  In this role you will be performing a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks related to the operation, maintenance, and development of infrastructure and treatment facilities, and in this performance, to support the functions of water treatment and distribution, and wastewater conveyance and reclamation under the direction of the Utilities Supervisor.  The work also includes operation of motorized / heavy equipment.

REQUIREMENTS:  High School Degree or equivalent or any combination of education and experience which demonstrates the knowledge and experience to perform the work.  Illinois Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class “A”, with air brake and tanker endorsements, or the ability to obtain one within six (6) months of the date of hire.  Ability and willingness to respond to emergency situations twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.  Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
