Public Works Administration is responsible for the overall direction of the Public Works Department.

The division retains a Public Works Director and Assistant Director, as well as a Project Manager, a secretary, a receptionist/office clerk, a GIS Technician, and a maintenance worker as support staff.  Management of all department personnel issues, development of policies and procedures and negotiation and oversight of bargaining unit contracts are handled by the PW Administration office.  Public Works Administration also sets maintenance standards and ensures continuity and quality of services to Algonquin's citizens and business owners.  The Public Works Director and staff establish all long range plans, achievement goals and vision for the department's 67 employees.  This office also oversees administration and implementation of all major maintenance and construction contracts.

  • Receive calls and walk-ins from the public and answer questions or direct callers to the proper staff members
  • Administer the process for block party requests.
  • Issue special transport/over weight permits for Village roads.
  • Administer hydrant meter rental program.
  • Distribute water meters to all new developers.
  • Process all invoices for the entire PW Department.
  • Process payroll for the entire PW Department.
  • Call in all JULIE locates
  • Set appointments for water meter installations and change-overs

  • Review all public works project and development engineering.
  • Oversees consultants performing construction inspection, and handles all resident contact relevant to such construction.
  • Performs field inspections on project erosion control measures
  • Reviews all utility installation permits for ComEd, NiCor, Comcast, SBC, etc.
  • Performs all construction inspection for commercial development projects.
  • Coordinates GPS field data collection (soon to be reassigned).
  • Develop and publishes all PW construction details and specifications
